Now I’m rebuilding how I work.

I’m Rob Williams — a Senior Creative Producer and Editor based in Chicago with nearly two decades of experience in broadcast video, on-air promotions, and editorial storytelling.

My career has run through some of the biggest names in Chicago broadcasting. At Weigel Broadcasting, I’ve led creative campaigns that secured sponsorships from 30+ national brands — Paramount Pictures, Allstate, Chase Bank, Home Depot, Peloton, and more — and driven measurable revenue growth year over year. Before that, I spent years at WGN-TV localizing national campaigns across 20+ Tribune-owned stations, helped launch Antenna TV, and contributed to WGN America’s primetime expansion. Along the way I’ve picked up a Regional Emmy and multiple national AVA and VEGA Digital Awards for my work.

Professional FOSS Codecs

How to Deliver Professional Video on Linux Using ProRes, DNxHR, AV1, and EXR

One of the biggest misconceptions about Linux creative workflows is that professional codecs are unavailable.

That is no longer true.

Using FFmpeg and modern open-source tooling, Fedora can work with nearly every major professional codec required in film, broadcast, and commercial post-production.

Editing & Intermediate Codecs

These codecs are optimized for timeline performance and high-quality interchange.

ProRes

Originally created by Apple, ProRes has become one of the industry’s most common professional mezzanine formats.

Fedora Creative Suite

Switching From Adobe Creative Cloud to Fedora Linux: My Real Workflow

The biggest misconception in creative production today is that professional work requires expensive proprietary ecosystems. It doesn’t. The tools — and the assets — are already here.

For decades, the world’s biggest visual effects studios, animation houses, and post-production powerhouses have quietly relied on Linux. The pipelines behind blockbuster films, high-end commercials, and broadcast television have trusted Linux for its stability, performance, flexibility, and iron control over the production environment.
